Eat Local Now!
Every year, for the past six years, hundreds of local businesses, residents, and farmers, ranchers, fisherman and chefs throughout the region come together over a great meal to celebrate and promote the importance of the local food system in Cascadia. This innovative community tradition—the Eat Local Now! Dinner—was started by BALLE Seattle (our predecessor organization) in 2004, and we've remained an integral partner ever since.
The Ultimate Collaboration
Eat Local Now! is an annual collaboration between several community organizations that care about increasing awareness and options for "good food close to home." Participating organizations have included Sustainable West Seattle, Sustainable Ballard, Sustainable Cascadia, CoolMom, Chef's Collaborative, EarthCorps, and Seattle Good Business Network (formerly as BALLE Seattle). While the annual event itself is the reason for coming together, the process of pulling it off is where the mission of the project comes to life. It is a true collaboration among participating community groups: we each attend planning meetings, make consensus decisions, and share fund-raising proceeds equally.
